WIMJ FORMULA ANALYSIS

It can be helpful for moisturization, but will not get the job done on its own. Can soften skin and might help reduce water loss over time, but is missing ingredients that attract water to the skin (like glycerin or hyaluronic acid)

Pos Ingredient Name Description
octinoxate 7.5 % Octinoxate. When used in higher concentrations, works as a sunscreen protecting the skin from UVB rays. When used in lower concentration, helps to preserve the product formulation. Is shown to be harmful to coral reefs - consider avoiding bathing in coral reef areas when wearing a product with this ingredient. It can be irritating
titanium dioxide 3.5 % Works as a UV filter when used in high concentrations. It is photostable and is effective mostly against the UVB light, with some protection in the UVA range. In small concentrations, used for its ability to improve the color of cosmetic products. Is usually well tolerated by the skin
zinc oxide 3.0 % A broad spectrum sunblock (protects from both UVA and UVB rays). Is suitable for most sensitive skins. In small concentrations, can be used as a colorant
purified water Plain old water
cyclopentasiloxane A silicone that helps improve the product texture and spreadability. Can absord oil creating a short-term mattifying effect on the skin
isononyl isononanoate Forms a protective film on the surface of the skin to prevent moisture loss. Gives a velvety feel to products while reducing tackiness
phenyl trimethicone A type of silicone that can decrease loss of moisture from the skin surface. It helps create a nice product texture
alcohol denat. Produces temporary toning effect. Can help dissolve other ingredients or preserve products
lauryl peg-8 dimethicone A type of silicone that helps water and oil mix together
disteardimonium hectorite A type of clay that is used to thicken the product consistency
sodium chloride Used to stabilize mixtures of oil and water, and create thicker, gel-like product textures
peg-10 dimethicone A silicone that works to soften the upper layer of the skin and reduce its water loss
talc Absorbs oil and moisture helping to create a dryer product finish
caprylyl glycol Helps preserve products and creates a nice product texture
alumina The same compound that is used safely in dental implants and bone cements. In cosmetics, it is used to improve the consistency of products
stearic acid Helps oil and water mix together and works as an emollient
phenoxyethanol A preservative. It helps prevent bacterial growth in cosmetic products
potassium sorbate A preservative
sodium dehydroacetate A preservative
methicone A type of silicone that helps soften the upper layer of the skin and reduces the water loss from the skin surface
hexylene glycol Helps create a more spreadable product texture
propanediol Acts as a solvent for other ingredients. Speeds up the absorption of other ingredients into the skin
tocopheryl acetate A more stable but less bio-available form of vitamin E compared to Tocopherol. Might help moisturize and protect the skin from free radicals, but mostly used in low concentrations to stabilize other ingredients.
hydrogen dimethicone Helps the function of sunscreen and pigment ingredients in the formulation
boerhavia diffusa root extract
ascorbyl palmitate Being a lipid soluble form of vitamin C, it is more stable and can penetrate the skin better than L-Ascorbic acid. It is effective in protecting the skin from free radicals, as well as evening the skin tone, but is less effective in stimulating collagen production compared to L-Ascorbic acid.
