Kat Burki Restorative Dual Acid Peel
Product summary
"Kat Burki - Restorative Dual Acid Peel" is effective for: Anti-inflammatory, Anti-blemish, Evens skin tone, Anti-aging and Exfoliation
This product could be helpful for: Moisturizing, but its actives are not the most effective or are not well-studied.
Ingredient callouts
- Exfoliating acids in a high total concentration (glycolic acid 0.90% - 1.35% and glycolic acid 23.00% - 34.00%). This is a strong peel. It removes the top layer of the dead skin cells, revealing a "fresher" skin. It can also have an anti-aging effect and stimulate collagen production in a long-run. But we recommend to use this product with caution to avoid over-exfoliation (no more than 1-2x a week). Over-exfoliation can seriously damage your skin barrier and lead to sensitivity and even trigger pigmentation issues.
- Salicylic acid (0.50% - 1.20%). This is an oil-soluble exfoliating acid. Because of this property, it can work inside pores and help reduce the congestion. It has an anti-inflammatory effect and is used to treat acne. Because it is a quite strong exfoliator, be careful with using this product too often: it could result in over-exfoliation.
- Humectants (arginine 0.10% - 0.45%, hyaluronic acid 0.35% - 0.85% and hyaluronic acid 4.60% - 6.90%). These ingredients help attract water to the upper layer of the skin and improve the skin hydration.

Benefits
Promise: Anti-blemish
What does the product description say?
helps unclog pores and sweep away dead cells and excess sebum Cold-Pressed Avocado Oil.
This product can help reduce breakouts and clogged pores because it contains the following ingredient: salicylic acid. This ingredient is used for treating acne and can have a noticeable effect.
The following ingredient (ingredients) in this product might be helpful, but there is no evidence to confirm that it actually works: glycolic acid
Ingredient | Effectiveness | Concentration | Irritancy |
---|---|---|---|
salicylic acid | HIGH | ||
glycolic acid | MEDIUM | ||
centella asiatica extract | LOW |
Promise: Anti-aging
What does the product description say?
A dual purpose retexturizing anti-aging treatment with instant soothing and restorative benefits.
This product can help reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin elasticity and firmness because it contains glycolic acid.
These ingredients in the product can also be helpful, even though there is less evidence for their effectiveness: centella asiatica extract.
Keep in mind that it typically takes at least 6 weeks to notice any results because the changes that are needed to improve fine lines and elasticity happen in the deeper layers of the skin. No topical anti-aging product can “erase” wrinkles or fully reverse signs of aging.
Ingredient | Effectiveness | Concentration | Irritancy |
---|---|---|---|
glycolic acid | HIGH | ||
centella asiatica extract | MEDIUM | ||
hyaluronic acid | LOW |
Promise: Evens skin tone
What does the product description say?
The dual acid in this peel's name refers to its blend of glycolic and salicylic acids that fight against sun and free-radical damage to reduce hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone.
This product can help reduce hypepigmentation and even out the skin tone because it contains the following effective ingredients: glycolic acid, salicylic acid
Keep in mind that you would need to apply any topical skincare targetted at hypigmentation consistently for a couple of months to get a result. No topical skincare product can help get rid of hyperpigmentation (including post-acne marks and age spots) instantly.
Ingredient | Effectiveness | Concentration | Irritancy |
---|---|---|---|
glycolic acid | HIGH | ||
salicylic acid | LOW |
Promise: Exfoliation
What does the product description say?
Glycolic acid and botanical hyaluronic acid combine to exfoliate and hydrate the skin, while cold-processed avocado oil acts as a replenishing treat post-peel.
This product can help exfoliate the skin. In other words, it helps break down the bonds between dead cells on the surface of the skin and speed up the skin turnover. Skin often appears softer and brighter after exfoliation, but overdoing it can result in disrupted skin barrier. The following ingredient is doing the exfoliating job in this product: glycolic acid, salicylic acid.
Ingredient | Effectiveness | Concentration | Irritancy |
---|---|---|---|
salicylic acid | HIGH | ||
glycolic acid | HIGH |
Promise: Moisturizing
What does the product description say?
*10% Glycolic Acid, 5% Hyaluronic Acid.
This product can help improve hydration of the skin with the two types of ingredients.
The first type is called “humectants”:
these ingredients help attract water.
When humectants are on the surface of the skin, they “pull in” the moisture from the outside environment, or from
within deeper layers of the skin. The following ingredients in this product do the job:
arginine, hyaluronic acid.
This product also contains ingredients called “occlusives”. They help reduce the speed with which our skin loses moisture to the outside environment. These ingredients also help soften the upper layer of the skin, so it feels less tight and nicer to the touch. The following ingredients in this product do the job: arginine.
Ingredient | Effectiveness | Concentration | Irritancy |
---|---|---|---|
vitis vinifera oil | HIGH | ||
arginine | HIGH | ||
cassia angustifolia seed polysaccharide | HIGH |
Other benefit: Anti-oxidation
This product contains antioxidants (centella asiatica extract) that might be able to help neutralize free radicals in skin to lessen the damage it gets from the UV light (sun). There is not enough evidence to confirm their effectiveness in skin though.
Ingredient | Effectiveness | Concentration | Irritancy |
---|---|---|---|
centella asiatica extract | MEDIUM | ||
vitis vinifera oil | LOW | ||
calendula officinalis extract | LOW |

A stable derivative of vitamin C. It is oil-soluble which means it is more likely to penetrate the skin compared to the pure form of vitamin C (which is water-soluble), but it is less bio-available and is way less effective in stimulating collagen and reducing wrinkles compared to the pure form of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) and its other derivatives (for example, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate). At the same time, this vitamin C derivative has been shown in studies to be effective in reducing acne, blemishes and clogged pores. It is less irritating then the pure form of vitamin C | |
