Pos Ingredient Name Description
aqua/water/eau Plain old water
ethylhexyl methoxycinna mate Octinoxate. When used in higher concentrations, works as a sunscreen protecting the skin from UVB rays. When used in lower concentration, helps to preserve the product formulation. Is shown to be harmful to coral reefs - consider avoiding bathing in coral reef areas when wearing a product with this ingredient. It can be irritating
homosalate A weak sunscreen that offers some protection against the sun rays that cause sunburn (UVB), but does not offer meaningful protection against protect against the most aging sun rays (UVA). It loses its effectiveness quickly when exposed to sunlight. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen. When used in low concentrations, helps to stabilize the product formulation
dicaprylyl carbonate Helps products spread more easily and works as an emollient to soften skin
ethylhexyl salicylate Octisalate. A UV filter. It offers some protection against the sun rays that cause sunburn (UVB), but does not protect against the most aging sun rays (UVA). It loses its effectiveness quickly when exposed to sunlight. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen
pongamia glabra seed oil A plant oil that helps soften the upper layer of the skin
butyloctyl salicylate A synthetic ester of salicylic acid that is used to help disperse pigments and boost effectiveness of sunscreen ingredients. It is able to absorb UV light (working as an organic, or chemical filter), but is not approved as a sunscreen ingredient on its own
dipropylene glycol Helps to dissolve other ingredients in a formulation. Slows down the rate of product drying
butylene glycol Used to create a nice product texture and help delivery of other ingredients. Might be somewhat helpful in attracting water to the upper layer of the skin
steareth-21 Helps oil and water mix together
glyceryl hydroxystearate Helps oil and water mix together. It is used to stabilize the product formulation and create a thicker product consistency
butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane Avobenzone. A broad spectrum sunscreen meaning that it can protect against both UVA rays. Currently, it is the only sunscreen ingredient available in the US (approved by the FDA) with the peak absorbance within the UVA I range. It loses its effectiveness quickly when exposed to sunlight. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen. When used in low concentrations, helps stabilize the product formulation
hydroxypropyl dimethicone behenate
tocopheryl acetate A more stable but less bio-available form of vitamin E compared to Tocopherol. Might help moisturize and protect the skin from free radicals, but mostly used in low concentrations to stabilize other ingredients.
benzotriazolyl dodecyl p-cresol Used to stabilize the product formulation protecting it from sun light
dimethicone A silicone that helps to reduce water loss from the surface of the skin. Can temporarily "fill in" lines and wrinkles, absorb oil, and create a nice product finish
glycyrrhetinic acid Active compound of licorice root. Works to calm down inflammation, as an anti-oxidant, and might be helpful in lightening the skin and reducing hyperpigmentation
mannitol Helps to attract water to the upper layer of the skin
sodium dextran sulfate
phenoxyethanol A preservative. It helps prevent bacterial growth in cosmetic products
chlorphenesin A preservative
disodium edta Stabilizes the product formulation
hydrolyzed soy protein Helps attract water to the upper layer of the skin. Might have some anti-aging, anti-oxidant, and skin lightening properties, but solid evidence is missing
microcrystalline cellulose
creatine Can support skin's ability to neutralize free radicals and produce collagen, though further research is needed to confirm effectiveness
hydrolyzed wheat protein Can help attract water to the upper layer of the skin. Avoid if sensitive to gluten
dehydroxanthan gum Helps create thicker product formulations and stabilize emulsions
propylene glycol Helps oil and water mix together and can enhance the penetration of other ingredients into the skin
cellulose gum Used to create thicker product consistency and stabilize emulsions
caprylyl glycol Helps preserve products and creates a nice product texture
artemia extract Zooplankton extract that can attract water to the upper level of the skin and might have some anti-oxidant effect
bht A preservative
carnosine A type of peptide. It attracts water to the upper layer of the skin. It can help neutralize free radicals in skin combatting the sun damage
xanthan gum Used to create a thicker product consistency
disodium adenosine triphosphate
tocopherol Pure form of vitamin E. Can help moisturise and protect the skin from free radicals. Often used to help stabilise other ingredients or the formula itself
laminaria digitata extract Seaweed extract that helps the skin to attract water and make it more smooth for touch. Also shows promise of anti-aging properties, but good research is lacking at the moment
potassium sorbate A preservative
. [es855] *cellular The ingredient is not recognized
water Plain old water
(aqua/disodium The ingredient is not recognized
adenosine triphosphate
carnosine A type of peptide. It attracts water to the upper layer of the skin. It can help neutralize free radicals in skin combatting the sun damage
mineral salts Used to thicked product formulations. Might help to add minerals to the surface of the skin
