Product summary

Judging from the ingredient list, "OSKIA - Violet Water Hydra-Gel" works well for improving skin hydration To work well, any moisturizer needs to include a combination of water-binding and emollient ingredients. OSKIA - Violet Water Hydra-Gel ticks this box. Humectants in this product (alanine, arginine, betaine, glutamic acid and glycerin) help to increase the water content in the upper layer of the skin. (These ingredients do so by "capturing" water molecules from the outside air or from within the deeper layers of the skin). Emollients in this formulation (ethyl linoleate, arginine, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetearyl alcohol and pentylene glycol) help to reduce the moisture loss from the skin. They also soften the skin surface and relieve the feeling of dryness and tightness.

Ingredient callouts

  • We particularly like that there is a good concentration of Niacinamide (4.30% - 5.20%) in this moisturizer. Niacinamide is a well-studied multi-tasking active. It is a great ingredient to have in a moisturizer. It is stable, and can work well in almost any hydrating formulation. There is solid evidence that Niacinamide can help support skin barrier, regulate oil production and reduce acne and clogged pores. It also helps to fight photodamage and help improve the skin tone, reducing pigmentation marks.
  • This product contains acids (gluconolactone 0.80% - 1.15% and lactic acid 0.20% - 0.40%). Their concentration is low, and they will not have a strong exfoliating effect. Instead, they work to support the skin natural acid mantle and to attract water (as humectants). PHAs (gluconolactone) especially are great for improving skin hydration. They might be even able to stimulate the production of skin's natural humectants and support the healthy skin microbiome.
This product contains ingredients that could be beneficial, but their concentrations are too low in this formulation: lactic acid, zinc oxide, potassium azeloyl diglycinate and sodium ascorbyl phosphate
