1 salicylic acid 1% Used for skin exfoliation. It has an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effect, helps to unclog pores, prevent blemishes and speed up healing of the existing ones. Sometimes referred to as a BHA (beta-hydroxy acid)
2 water/aqua/eau Plain old water
3 decyl glucoside Helps oil and water mix together. Can be irritating
4 glycerin One of the best moisturizing ingredients. Naturally present in skin. It attracts water to the upper layer of the skin working as a humectant
5 propanediol Acts as a solvent for other ingredients. Speeds up the absorption of other ingredients into the skin
6 lactic acid An exfoliating and moisturizing alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA). Typically causes less irritation than other AHAs, for example, glycolic acid. At high concentrations (about 15%), lactic acid can help reduce lines and wrinkles. Recent studies show that lactic acid can support the "good" bacteria living on skin's surface (healthy skin microbiom)
7 malic acid Helps adjust the product pH
8 melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil An essential oil that can be irritating. Has some anti-bacterial properties

11 curcuma longa (turmeric) root extract A plant extract that can contain an active compound curcumin, that may have some anti-inflammatory properties when applied to the skin, but solid research is lacking and the typical concentration used in skincare products is too low. Can be an irritant

13 brassica oleracea italica (broccoli) extract Might have some anti-inflammatory properties but research is lacking

15 aspalathus linearis (red tea) leaf extract Plant extract that might have help to neutralize free radicals in skin, but evidence of effectiveness is skin is lacking
16 camellia sinensis (green , white tea) leaf extract Can contain potent anti-oxidant compounds and help protect the skin from free radicals. Can help calm down inflammation and has some anti-bacterial properties
17 lycium barbarum (goji berry) fruit extract A plant extract that can help neutralize free radicals in skin and attract water to its upper layer
18 punica granatum (pomegranate) extract A plant extract that can help neutralize free radicals in skin and even out the skin tone, but is typically used in products in a concentration that is too low to be effective
19 vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract A plant extract that contains resveratrol and other anti-oxidant compounds that can help neutralize free radicals, reduce inflammation in skin and even out its tone. Can be also used to stabilize the product formulation
20 algae extract Plant extract that helps the skin to attract water and make it more smooth for touch. Also shows promise of anti-aging properties, but research is not extensive yet
