This product contains good ingredients to attract water to the upper layer of the skin. These ingredients are called "humectants": sodium hyaluronate, aloe barbadensis leaf extract.
When humectants are on the surface of the skin, they “pull in” the moisture from the outside environment, or from within deeper layers of the skin. If the air is dry, humectants can speed up the moisture loss from the skin. This is why it is a good idea to use another product on top of this one to help "seal in" the moisture (look for ingredients like dimethicone, squalane, oils and butters).

I've been using this product for about two weeks now and there was a little bit of a curve at the beginning where I was unsure of the product but now I'm certain I like it.
It's relatively inexpensive. It does not pill under makeup which any other azelaic acid product I've run into does. It's non comedogenic which I've not seen in other azelaic products.
The texture is lovely if you use the right amount (about a dime size amount is plenty), feels moisturizing, calms down redness, doesn't settle into my pores weird. It's light and liquid. In general it just feels good and I'm seeing good results.
As for what made me hesitate at first, I used too much at one time and it felt oily when I first put it on which I didn't enjoy. And the first time I used it it smelled very lightly like a fishy smell. That scent has since faded and I've not noticed the smell again. I do wonder if it was just from the packaging and not the product itself? Regardless I really like this and it will be a staple in my routine.
