This product does not offer good protection against UVA rays.
This product can help improve hydration of the skin with the two types of ingredients.
The first type is called “humectants”:
these ingredients help attract water.
When humectants are on the surface of the skin, they “pull in” the moisture from the outside environment, or from
within deeper layers of the skin. The following ingredients in this product do the job:
glycerin, aloe barbadensis leaf juice.
This product also contains ingredients called “occlusives”. They help reduce the speed with which our skin loses moisture to the outside environment. These ingredients also help soften the upper layer of the skin, so it feels less tight and nicer to the touch. The following ingredients in this product do the job: caprylic/capric triglyceride, helianthus annuus seed oil.

Octinoxate. When used in higher concentrations, works as a sunscreen protecting the skin from UVB rays. When used in lower concentration, helps to preserve the product formulation. Is shown to be harmful to coral reefs - consider avoiding bathing in coral reef areas when wearing a product with this ingredient. It can be irritating
More about Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamateOctisalate. A UV filter. It offers some protection against the sun rays that cause sunburn (UVB), but does not protect against the most aging sun rays (UVA). It loses its effectiveness quickly when exposed to sunlight. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen
More about Ethylhexyl salicylateA weak sunscreen that protects against the sun rays that cause sunburn (UVB) and is somewhat effective against the UVA rays. It is quite stable and can help stabilize other, more vulnerable, sunscreen ingredients like Avobenzone. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen
More about OctocryleneSame as oxybenzone. Protects in the UVB and short UVA range. In small concentrations, used to stabilize product formulation. Can be irritating. Is shown to be harmful to coral reefs - consider avoiding bathing in coral reef areas when wearing a product with this ingredient. It can penetrate the skin and get absorbed into bloodstream faster than other popular filters available in the US. The study that produced this finding did not address any potential health effects of the absorption
More about Benzophenone-3Works as a UV filter when used in high concentrations. It is photostable and is effective mostly against the UVB light, with some protection in the UVA range. In small concentrations, used for its ability to improve the color of cosmetic products. Is usually well tolerated by the skin
More about Titanium dioxideCan be drying and contribute to skin irritation. Used in formulars to dissolve other ingredients, create a thinner product consistency or for its antibacterial properties
More about AlcoholTraditionally used to treat sunburns, dermatitis and inflammation, but evidence for its effectiveness is lacking. The extract can contain humectants that help attract water into the skin
More about Aloe barbadensis leaf juiceThe same compound that is used safely in dental implants and bone cements. In cosmetics, it is used to improve the consistency of products
More about AluminaAn active component of chamomile plant that historically has been used to calm down irritated skin. A recent study shows that bisabolol indeed can have some anti-inflammatory effect on skin, even though conclusive data is lacking. Bisabolol has a sweet floral scent and can be added to products for its aromatic properties
More about BisabololA synthetic ester of salicylic acid that is used to help disperse pigments and boost effectiveness of sunscreen ingredients. It is able to absorb UV light (working as an organic, or chemical filter), but is not approved as a sunscreen ingredient on its own
More about Butyloctyl salicylateA good mix of fatty acids that forms a protective layer on the skin. Improves the shelf life of products. Derived from coconut and glycerin
More about Caprylic/capric triglycerideHelps preserve products and creates a nice product texture
More about Caprylyl glycolUsed to create thicker product consistency and stabilize emulsions
More about Cellulose gumA non-drying alcohol. Works as an emollient. Helps water and oil mix together and creates a nice product texture
More about Cetearyl alcoholCan work as an exfoliant but is typically used to adjust the product pH
More about Citric acidUsed as a cleansing agent (surfactant) in cleansers. Helps water and oil mix together in lotions. Can be irritating
More about Coco-glucosideA plant oil that might help neutralize free radicals and have an anti-bacterial effect
More about Daucus carota sativa seed oilOne of the best moisturizing ingredients. Naturally present in skin. It attracts water to the upper layer of the skin working as a humectant
More about GlycerinA great emollient due to its high linoleic acid content. One of the most effective plant oils in helping skin hydration and repairing skin barrier function
More about Helianthus annuus seed oilHelps soften the upper layer of the skin
More about Isocetyl stearoyl stearateHelps soften the upper layer of the skin
More about Methyl dihydroabietateAn emollient that helps soften the skin but is not effective for restoring its barrier function. Might be helpful to calm down inflammation
More about Olea europaea fruit oilUsed to stabilize product formulations and individual ingredients (for example, sunscreens). Can be an allergen
More about Polyester-8Used to create a thicker product consistency and stabilize the formulation
More about Polyhydroxystearic acidActs as a solvent for other ingredients. Speeds up the absorption of other ingredients into the skin
More about PropanediolUsed as a fragrance. It can reduce skin pigmentation, but it is not safe to use for these purposes in high concentrations as use of raspberry ketone and its derivative is linked to causing loss of skin pigmentation in people (leukoderma)
More about Raspberry ketoneA plant oil that might be able to help neutralize free radicals in skin
More about Rubus idaeus seed oilHelps oil and water mix together
More about Sodium stearoyl glutamatePure form of vitamin E. Can help moisturise and protect the skin from free radicals. Often used to help stabilise other ingredients or the formula itself
More about TocopherolA great emollient that can also have anti-oxidant properties
More about Vitis vinifera seed oilEthylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl salicylate, Octocrylene, Benzophenone-3, Titanium dioxide, Alcohol, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Alumina, Allyl heptanoate, Bentonite, Bisabolol, Butyloctyl salicylate, Caprylhydroxamic acid, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Caprylyl glycol, Cellulose gum, Cetearyl alcohol, Citric acid, Coco-glucoside, Daucus carota sativa seed oil, Gamma-decalactone, Gamma-nonalactone, Gamma-octalactone, Glycerin, Helianthus annuus seed oil, Heliotropine, Isocetyl stearoyl stearate, Methyl dihydroabietate, Microcrystalline cellulose, Olea europaea fruit oil, Polyester-8, Polyhydroxystearic acid, Polysorbate 20, Propanediol, Raspberry ketone, Rubus idaeus seed oil, Silica, Sodium gluconate, Sodium stearoyl glutamate, Tocopherol, Triethyl citrate, Vanillin, Vitis vinifera seed oil, Water

"Bare Republic - Mineral Spray Vanilla Coconut" does not provide enough UVA protection. UVA rays do not cause sunburn, but still damage the skin, leading to early signs of aging and pigmentation issues.
Its formula is also hydrating, so you might not need an additional moistruizer during the day.
This sunscreen uses a mixture of both mineral and organic (so-called "chemical") UV filters. Here are the organic filters this product uses: oxybenzone, butyloctyl salicylate, octinoxate, octisalate and octocrylene. As for the mineral filters, this sunscreen uses titanium dioxide.
There are some common irritants in this product, including ingredients that do not have benefits for the skin. We assess the overall irritancy of it to be medium. For a detailed overview of all potential irritants: click here
