How to reduce redness

I am trying to reduce the daily redness on my face by using gentler cleanser and moisturizer, and by not using hot water on my face. I’m still at the point where I feel I have to cover up the redness with foundation but appears the one I’m using has some possible irritants. Any recommendations for a gentler way to cover the redness?
