Product Summary

Based on the ingredient list, "Beauty & Pharma Dermaceuticals Research Lab - 3% Polypeptides + 2% AHA - Eye Treatment Cream" can work well for skin moisturization. The formulation is based on a combination of good humectants and emollients. Both are needed to increase the skin hydration level. Acetyl hexapeptide-8, copper palmitoyl heptapeptide-14, heptapeptide-15 palmitate, glycerin and butylene glycol in this product (humectants) attract water molecules to the upper layer of the skin (the water comes from the outside air or from the deeper layers of the skin if the air is dry). Emollients in this formulation (caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetyl alcohol and lecithin) help to reduce the moisture loss from the skin. They also soften the skin surface and relieve the feeling of dryness and tightness.

Ingredient callouts

  • This product contains acids (lactic acid 0.60% - 1.40% and glycolic acid 0.95% - 1.45%). Their concentration is low, and they will not have a strong exfoliating effect. Instead, they work to support the skin natural acid mantle and to attract water (as humectants). Lactic acid is particularly good in attracting water to the upper layer of the skin and improving the skin barrier.
  • This moisturizer also contains Peptides (heptapeptide-15 palmitate 0.40% - 0.95%, copper palmitoyl heptapeptide-14 0.50% - 1.15% and acetyl hexapeptide-8 6.90% - 10.40%). Peptides are a very big group of ingredients. They all consist of a different combination of aminoacids. Our skin produces Peptides naturally. Some of them work as natural antibiotics, promote wound-healing and production of collagen. The scientists are still studying how effective the topical application of Peptides is, but it is very likely that they are helpful. Peptides might be able to support skin barrier restoration and even have an anti-aging benefit. At the very least, they certainly help attract water to the skin and support the hydration in this way.
This product contains ingredients that could be beneficial, but their concentrations are too low in this formulation: stearic acid, niacinamide and lactic acid
