I’ve been busting my brain for over a month to research, select, BUY and TRY a range of skincare (and cosmetic) products to see which are best for my Black American (ethnicity) brown skin. For decades, I used a relatively few, carefully selected products, with very good results. And I do not wear makeup every day. (I HAVE used sunscreen for years, but I wasn’t reapplying it throughout the day. 🤷🏽♀️) Now WIMJ database is telling me my current morning routine has excellent, effective, generally low-irritability ingredients, but that there are “too many” ingredients. LOL. Almost all skincare products available today were, and usually still are, formulated for Caucasian (white) skin, rather than for skin of colour, like mine, and rather than formulated truly for all or both skin types. Sunscreen has been one of my biggest frustrations! So, in order to get the right “look” (most natural colour and reflectivity) on my complexion, PLUS, of course, getting the proper protections (for skin of colour!), I started blending several sunscreens, plus primer for better consistency and application. This afternoon for reapplication, I will try removing one sunscreen: the Colorescience Sunforgettable. I’ll try mixing just MDSolarSciences SPF50 BB creme, with a touch of SPF 40 Glowscreen and The Ordinary silicone primer (no SPF). I’ll also reapply my eyelid sunscreen! 😎
Honestly, if your sunscreen mixing works for you, there is no need to change it. Technically, there is a slight risk that the mixture of the sunscreens doesn't create a uniform protective film, but it shouldn't be an issue if you are applying carefully. The risk is higher with mixing with the non-SPF product
