I'm 2 months into using Differin gel. I've
had an onset of dryness, flaking, redness and irritation. Much more than I did in the first 4 weeks. However, it's only around the skin below the corners of my mouth.
I've cut cleansing to every other night.
The only new product I've introduced to my routine is HadoLabo Premium Hyaluronic Acid. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I have visible change in skintone there, also. Thanks!
More product can gather in these areas, leading to more irritation. It is not normal, as in you need to protect your skin from this irritation. One method is using a thick layer of vaseline in this area before applying Differin to the rest of your face (so that it doesn't get to the already irritated skin). I'd also minimize any other products getting in tough with this area, including your toothpaste (you can also use vaseline before brushing teeth). I hope your skin gets better soon!
