Hyperpigmentation + Vitamin C / Niaminicide

Ive struggled with hormonal acne and hyperpigmentation for years. Of course after turning 25 and using the same products for 2 years I’ve yielded some results such as little to no dark marks and even skin tone! (yay!!!) Only problem is, they’re getting a little expensive and now that the problem is fixed feels a little redundant. I was using Tula’s Vitamin C serum and Juvia’s Place niaminicide. My skin tends to be on the dryer side. I’m also currently working on getting blackheads/sebeum off my nose as a new goal.

Could anyone recommend a product to replace the two but keep up the maintenance of keeping dark marks/hyperpigmentation at bay, keeping even skin tone, while being moisturizing? I was looking at DewGlow SPF 50 but I’m worried that I’ll be missing out for some reason.

My routine would be:

Shiseido Oil Cleanser

(working on phasing out) Cerave Foaming Face Wash

Rosewater toner/Cerave Toner (again, working on getting Cerave out of the equation)

Here is where I’d use the vitamin c + niaminicide

Then, depending on the day/night either squalene oil, shiseido sunscreen or deep bleu cloud night moisturizer by PB. Would I just use the DewGlow as a moisturizer at the end here? Should I add anything?

Thanks for your help :))

Hello!

Looks like tulu is only 10% Ethyl Ascorbic Acid. If you can tolerate a higher percent I'd stick with something 15% and up like Naturium vit c and prequel vit c, both can be found at Target! this should be worn daily with spf to help protect your skin from free radicals etc.

Numbuzin no 5 niacinamide serum will also maintain that even complexion as it has glutathione, vit c and Tranexamic Acid. this one can be used morning or night but again sunscreen is a must!

For the seb and blackheads, an oil cleanser would help production, massaging in the area for 5 minutes minimum will pull most of them out, you can steam the area as well to loosen to skin and remove the blackheads with a tool. if anything, get a facial done and grab a good exfoliant for the area to maintain clean pores after extractions are done. this is something you'll want to do often to keep them clean.

I personally do the oil cleanse and extract anything I missed after steaming the area. I'll use a blackhead melter to loosen up the areas on days I need something quick, try: ilso - Super Melting Sebum Softener.

Keep SPF to the AM and is always the last step in your AM skincare routine!

Routines can look something like this:

AM: Toner, vit c, other serums, moisturizer, and last SPF.

PM: Dbl cleanse, any active (exfoliating) products, moisturizer

To avoid any other breakouts or dry skin, wash once a day (at night is best) and use a hydrating soothing toner in the am to balance PH and give a good cleanse. Anua 77% heartleaf is incredible! It's important to clean all day time skincare off to avoid clogged pores. a double cleanse can be helpful! if your skin is on the dry side, try a milk or balm first cleanse to get makeup and sunscreen off face, emulsify with water then you can go in with a gentle cleanser.

April Skin balm or Make Prem milk cleanser have some really great sensitive acne prone friendly balm and milk cleanser! for gentle cleanser: Prequel Gleanser or Kravebeauty hemp matcha cleanser, or you can go for something simple like la roche posay gentle cleanser.

Rosewater is a great toner to refresh the skin anytime of the day, just make sure it does not have any actives mixed in to avoid irritation from the sun. you would benefit from a hypochlorous acid spray and can use it any time! it is a Antimicrobial and will help future breakouts! Skinsmart makes an affordable one that is hydrating (:

hope this helps!
