My skin is a mess, break outs, redness, clogged pores, wrinkles. What can I change?

My skin used to be great but it all changed throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding for the last 2 years. The hormonal changes throughout this time and having to watch which products I use, my skin is now a mess. My t-zone gets oily, I have eczema patches, redness, regular breakouts and clogged pores. My wrinkles and fine lines are obvious and make up sits on my skin. I look dull and have lost any glow.

Hello,

I have the same skin type. In my case the Ordinary products don't work. I tried because of the price but they are useless.

In the morning you should use a vitamin C serum to firm and revitalise your skin (I recommend La Roche-Posay). Then a lifting, hydrating moisturizer (I always buy the best I can, as it's important to hydrate the skin for the day, especially if you wear makeup). The best I tried are the Day cream from Guerlain (Abeille royale line), The lBlue therapy lift red algae day cream from Biotherm, The Chanel Le lift restorative cream oil (I use it for a month and it does what it says). I swear by these ones, I'm 45 with a much younger husband and I can tell they work to have a beautiful skin. I have no lines, no wrinkles, only have to pay attention to dry under eye area and genetic dark circles ).

The evening is the most important here. I use vitamin C serum and the Roc moisturizer with retinol and hyaluronic acid. I add another a moisturizer on top of the Roc as it contains retinol, I need even more hydration. No matter what you use, but for me it works well the Cerave hydrating lotion.

Good luck and I hope this helps. 😊🍀

Hi!

Just to offer some tips about breakouts and redness, using BHA and exfoliating every day is doing more damage than good, you are better off using products like this once or twice a week, or else you are damaging your skin barrier, and that may be causing more breakouts.

Using a good moisturizer without any comedogenic ingredients is best, those can clog your pores and cause acne. A good cheap one is Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Gel Face Moisturizer

To prevent wrinkles and more texture you should add a nice sunscreen, with moisturizing ingredients and above 50 spf.

Might be worth it to go back to basics for a while to figure out your new skin. Just a gentle cleanser, no-frills moisturizer, and non-irritating sunscreen. Sometimes the best skin I've ever had is when I was just splashing water on it for a few weeks, because it just needed a break to adjust and find itself again.

Recently I tried the "7 skin" trend, where you layer on 3-7 very light layers of a hydrating essence or toner, letting them absorb and dry in between layers - and *honestly*, I'm a convert. Since I used a very soothing, zero actives, hydrating toner (Tia'm Vita B5 Toner) my skin was very calmed and it felt the most hydrated and bouncy it had in months without feeling heavy. After a few days of only using a gentle cleanser, followed by this 5 thin layers of toner, and topped with another soothing hydrating cream (the cosrx all-in-one cream), my skin has done a 180 from the dry, red, irritated default I got used to. I really recommend trying it out with a soothing hydrating toner to see if you like it.
