I think hyaluronic acid is a bit redundant if you have a good moisturizer
Take out HA serum. Someone else said it's redundant and I agree.
I would recommend building a routine like this as a guide:
[Daily] Cleanser with salicylic acid; Toner with niacinamide; Azelaic acid (serum step); Moisturizer with hyaluronic acid; Sunscreen in the morning
[Acne Flareups] Cleanser with salicylic acid, Succinic acid treatment (serum step); Moisturizer with hyaluronic acid; Sunscreen in the morning
Exfoliate with that clay mask you like once a week but don't use any acids or aha or bha that day
thankyou so much <3 do you have any recommendations for the azelaic acid??
I own the ordinary's azelaic acid. I can say it works. You definitely need to moisturize after using it though.
I think the website advertises it for texture issues but in my experience it helps with acne scarring, acne prevention and helps smooth my skin over time.
I used to use it everyday in my morning routine. I might actually go back to using it frequently because for me it worked. I haven't tried other brands so I can't speak for other ones.
Are you very young? If so this is a lot to load on your skin at that age and costly when you're relying on your parents who have bills to pay.
Yes I am 17 years old and have struggled with hormonal acne flare ups forever. I pay for all of my own skincare and am just looking for a more simple routine that uses products actually beneficial for my skin.
I would keep:
salicylic acid cleanser every other day or switch to a serum/ toner with 2% salicylic acid
Niacinamide toner daily
Moisturizer - but I’d switch to a less irritating option to help keep inflammation down
sunscreen
I’d consider adding azelaic acid serum and a retinoid product. Maybe this page can be a good info resource for how to put together an effective routine: https://whatsinmyjar.com/resources/acne-clogged-pores
