Sensitive Skin

Hello Community,

HELP! I have extremely sensitive, dry and reactive skin. I have gone to dermatologists before and they say same thing “It would be easier if you had acne, because we have treatments for that. But with sensitive skin, it’s really process of elimination.” Meaning, I have to keep purchasing products until I find the right one and that gets expensive. I am in my early 50’s, and need a hydrating serum that won’t irritate my skin or dry it out more. Seems hyaluronic acid and niacinamide dry me out, or at least the brands I am using that have those ingredients are drying me out. I am looking for hydration and anti aging. Any really great product suggestions? I can’t use essential oils, salicylic, parabens, fragrance, citrus, grape seed. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hello, thanks for replying to my post. I have applied it both ways, first damp and then to dry skin ( to see if I can better tolerate it).

Seems more skin is too sensitive.

Sorry this is my first post so I’m not sure if I’m doing this right. But I was wondering what concentration of hyaluronic acid was in the serums you’ve used that didn’t work well? You may be sensitive to HA, but it could instead be that you’re using products with too high of a concentration

I'd recommend to dial your skincare routine down to an absolute minimum: simple moisturizer and mineral-based sunscreen in the AM, a very gentle cleanser and the same moistruizer (or a heavier version like a cica balm) in the PM. Stick with it for a month at least, avoid the temptation to add other products. There is a good chance that this regimen will give your skin an opportunity to heal its barrier.
