Pos Ingredient Name Description
aqua Plain old water
glycerin One of the best moisturizing ingredients. Naturally present in skin. It attracts water to the upper layer of the skin working as a humectant
cetearyl alcohol A non-drying alcohol. Works as an emollient. Helps water and oil mix together and creates a nice product texture
methylpropanediol Helps dissolve other ingredients in a formulation
glyceryl glucoside Can help to restore skin barrier function and soften its upper layer
octocrylene A weak sunscreen that protects against the sun rays that cause sunburn (UVB) and is somewhat effective against the UVA rays. It is quite stable and can help stabilize other, more vulnerable, sunscreen ingredients like Avobenzone. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen
cyclomethicone A type of silicone that leaves a nice silky finish on the skin and can help soften its upper layer
glyceryl stearate An emollient that softens the skin and forms a protective layer on its surface. Helps water and oil mix together
butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane Avobenzone. A broad spectrum sunscreen meaning that it can protect against both UVA rays. Currently, it is the only sunscreen ingredient available in the US (approved by the FDA) with the peak absorbance within the UVA I range. It loses its effectiveness quickly when exposed to sunlight. It is an organic, or so called "chemical" sunscreen. When used in low concentrations, helps stabilize the product formulation
sodium phenylbenzimidazole sulfonate
tapioca starch Used to create a thicker product consistency
butyrospermum parkii butter A great moisturising ingredient that softens the skin and reduces water loss from its upper layer. It also can be helpful in protecting skin from free radicals
tocopheryl acetate A more stable but less bio-available form of vitamin E compared to Tocopherol. Might help moisturize and protect the skin from free radicals, but mostly used in low concentrations to stabilize other ingredients.
nelumbium speciosum flower extract
panthenol Helps attract water to the upper layer of the skin and can help improve skin barrier function
c12-15 alkyl benzoate Enhances the product texture and makes it more spreadable. Helps reduce water loss from the outer layer of skin. Extands the shelf life by preventing bacteria growth
cera microcristallina Helps to soften the upper layer of the skin, reduce water loss from its surface and create a thicker product consistency
alcohol denat. Produces temporary toning effect. Can help dissolve other ingredients or preserve products
potassium cetyl phosphate Helps oil and water mix together
propylene glycol Helps oil and water mix together and can enhance the penetration of other ingredients into the skin
paraffinum liquidum One of the most effective and well studied occlusive and emollient moisturizing ingredients. Helps reduce moisture loss in skin and repair skin barrier function
dimethicone A silicone that helps to reduce water loss from the surface of the skin. Can temporarily "fill in" lines and wrinkles, absorb oil, and create a nice product finish
hydrogenated palm glycerides An emollient that softens the skin
acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer Maintains the texture of skincare products. Allows the product to spread evenly. Helps oil and water mix together
chondrus crispus extract Red algae extract that helps attract water to the upper layer of the skin and create a nicer product consistency
ethylhexylglycerin A preservative
phenoxyethanol A preservative. It helps prevent bacterial growth in cosmetic products
methylparaben A preservative
trisodium edta Helps preserve product formulations
limonene A common frangrance that can easily irritate skin, especially if exposed to air, light or heat
linalool A fragrance. Can be irritating
benzyl alcohol A preservative. Can be used to mask unpleasant smell. Can be irritating
citronellol A fragrance. Can be irritating
geraniol A fragrance. Can be irritating
alpha-isomethyl ionone A fragrance. Potential allergen and can be irritating
bht A preservative
butylphenyl methylpropional A fragrance. Can trigger allergic reactions and be irritating
parfum An aromatic blend of unspecified irritating ingredients
