I love the "confident without makeup" goal - it is so empowering!
One of the key point I think to keep in mind when dealing with acne is that it's an inflammatory condition. Acne-triggering bacteria live peacefully on everybody's skin, but sometimes our skin gets out of balance and starts overreacting to them. And we get inflamed spots as the result. This is why derms recommend to treat acne-prone skin as sensitive. This means limiting the number of irritants in skincare, and also being very careful with exfoliation. (Overexfoliation can disrupt the skin barrier and make the skin more inflammation-prone, and irritants can add to the inflammation "fire"). This is why I would try to go for fragrance-free, gentle & minimalist skincare routine, but still include 1-3 potent anti-acne actives (for example, a retinoid, azelaic acid and salicylic acid a few times per week to help with blackheads).
