Is my routine ok ?

I have combination-dry, rosacea prone sensitive skin.

Id like to fade some Sun spots and have more glowy skin.

I wanted to use my allies of skin blemish treatment everyday as it has azelaic acid but I’m seeing that it also has mandelic acid and I’m afraid it will damage my skin barrier.

I also received a mini version of the protini polypeptide cream from drunk elephant and I really like the texture and feel of it, more than my cerave moisturizer but I’m afraid it will not give me the hydration I need to not have a rosacea flare up.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you !

Do you double-cleanse?

Reply

Yes I do because I wear a tinted moisturizer and blush during the day

Hm... Double-cleanse is more damaging to skin barrier than a single one. For me even with makeup (apart from mascara) and a proper sunscreen layer underneath, a very generous amount of cleanser but in one go works. "Dropping a cleanse" can help keep your skin barrier stronger - of course, only if you feel comfortable with it.

re the Allies of skin, I'd definitely be careful - in addition to mandelic and lactic acid, there is also ginko and opuncia flower extract, and benzyl alcohol as a preservative, it it making it a little risky for rosacea-prone skin. Maybe this alternative for azelaic acid woudl be a better option? https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/niod-re-pigment-serum

Ok thanks a lot! I was looking for an azelaic acid product

Protini though shouldn't cause issues, but again rosacea-prone skin can be reactive, and it does have a higher irritation risk than Cerave. You could try it every other night for a week and see how your skin feels? I would experiment with one product only - as in wouldn't start allies of the skin daily at the same time as starting protini
