PIH routine + mild acne

I dont use this particular Snail Cleanser. I couldnt find the TiaM Snail and Azulene cleanser. Its really mild and never gives me a tight feeling.

I'm waiting for Melano CC vit c serum to add to the morning, my skin seems to tolerate BHA well, provided I slaver mucho mucho moisture after. Wake up with no irritation and calm skin.

Any other suggestions?

I have little weird bumps under my lip and nose, does anyone know what it is?

Ps. Is retinol an absolute must?

Retinol is definitely not a must! At the same time, if your concerns are acne and PIH, a retinoid is probably the most potentially effective skincare active to target both. Still, some people cannot tolerate it at all. If you can tolerate it though, I'd opt for less other actives and try a retinoid product for about 2 months and assess the results.

Derms also often recommend addressing the active breakouts first before focusing on PIH - so that would also speak for considering a retinoid + azelaic acid (+ salicylic acid 1-2 times per week) before going full on with vitamin C

Thank you Maria, you're a skincare encyclopaedia :) !

My acne is very very mild, it flattens out overnight after I put BP on it. I just don't know how I feel about retinol, in UK we don't have Adapelene and the acne treatment is Acnecide.

I have several of tiny red mark after spots I squeezed and noticed much improvement since using SPF everyday (3+ applications)

Haha, not sure about encyclopedia but I’m glad if I can help!😄

It might be possible to get adapalene in the UK in one of the major pharmacies’ online acne clinics.

Long-term, retinoids are a better acne-managing solutions because they do not disrupt the skin microbiome, while BP does that.

If adapalene is not available, retinal is a good retinoid alternative - it is effective, and is considered more gentle than retinol. Also, a low concentration retinol is often well tolerated if you start slowly (for example, once or twice per week in the beginning)

when you say retinoid + azelaic acid, would you use them at the same time?

Ah sorry, no, meant not at the same time, just in the same routine, for example azelaic in the AM and retinoid in the PM (on the days when you use retinoid)

I'm loving my adapalene. I feel like it's a cure for all my problems. Haven't had an active acne since started using it. I still have some CC, but no new ones. My skin tone also seems to be more even and when I apply BB cream on top, I can't tell much difference anymore 😃 its making all my serums redundant now. I'm just drowning in hydrating toner and a B5 cream. Also Melano vit C in the mornings been approved by Dermatica to be used in conjuction 💜 thanks for sending me on retinol trip!
