Dry, flaky and red. Adjusting or wrong products?

My skin is still very dry. Especially when I wake up and after a few hours.

I use it twice or more a day.

My skin gets flaky and itchy and had redness. (Because of the dryness and me scratching it's now damaged, so a cycle occurs)

I'm using my routine for a week now. Maybe my skin still needs to adjust?

Use a generous amount of product to remove all dirt, sunscreen or makeup in one step. There is no need to double-cleanse. It is a good idea to always finish cleansing with a splash of clean water to remove any residue from the cleanser. Most people only need to cleanse their skin with a cleanser once per day, at night. It is the first step of a night skincare routine.

HYALURONIC GLOBAL CREAM By terry - HYALURONIC GLOBAL CREAM
Use every day, as many times as needed. For most people, it's best to use a moisturizer twice per day. In the morning, apply it before your sunscreen (or skip the moisturizer in the morning if your sunscreen feels hydrating enough). In the evening, a moisturizer is usually the last step of a routine.

It could take a couple of weeks for the skin barrier to restore. Still, irritation and itchiness is definitely not normal, so we should definitely make sure nothing you are using now is irritating you further. Do you wash off the micellar water? If not, please do to make sure no residue is left on your skin. Also, I'd suggest you skip the micellar water in the morning completely.

Has your skin got better during this week at all?

I have picked everything, low in irritating ingredients. The micellar water is designed to be put on and taken off with a cotton pad, not with water. Do you still recommend?

In the morning if I skip it, I start with serum and moisturizer directly?

My skin had some ups and downs, but mostly really dry.

The moisturizer also stings a bit often when I apply it.

My previous products were mostly high on your irritation scale, so maybe I have to detox??

Yes, I'd recommend rinsing off micellar water with water. Its residue can keep interacting with your skin barrier in a bad way, so you don't want any of it left on your skin.

For the morning, yes, you could either directly apply the serum, or start with a splash of cool / lukewarm water just for the refreshed feeling.

Yes, it is possible that you need to "detox", just not in a sense of actually eliminating any toxins but just giving the time to your skin barrier to heal.

Another tip for helping your skin to recover is using vaseline at night (maybe not every day, a few times per week could already help), as the last step of the routine, in the areas where your skin is dry.

Maybe you could try a different moisturiser, one that is rich.

I have combination skin & the By Terry one (which is like a gel consistency) makes my skin dry.

Oh wow, really! Thank you for sharing, I will!

That cream contains a lot of hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, both of which aren't moisturising on their own.

After applying the changes suggested ( clean once a day and rinse after, plus switching By terry global face cream for Augustinus bader the rich cream) the flakyness immediately stopped and the dryness is way way better 🤩 Thank you so much for your advice l, Maria and Stormy
