Hey guys! I have been on the lookout for ages for a face oil that I can use at night without breaking me out. My skin does not stand out oily products too well but I really love the feeling that face oils give on the face. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks a lot! I read quite a bit on it but I was not sure if I should give it a try or not. Glad to hear from others this worked.
I used dry almond oil when I was younger and it worked, btw it has antioxidants. (I have very sensitive skin and must be careful with skincare, they can easily cause acne or pimples on my face). Rosehip oil from The Organic caused me breakouts, I'm allergic to argan oil etc.
Thank you! I do not think I ever heard of dry almond oil before. Do you have a brand that you can recommend?
I used bio almond oil, I was living in France back then so I searched an article for you about oils, you can translate the page with Google https://www.epicosm.fr/huile-vegetale-seche-ou-grasse/
"A dry oil will be suitable for all skin types since it is very penetrating, and particularly for combination or oily skin, favoring oils with sebum-regulating properties (macadamia, hazelnut, jojoba, sesame or even grapeseed). This property of certain vegetable oils is indeed important, since the skin then recognizes the fatty acids provided and considers them as sebum. It actually self-regulates its "hyper-secretion" downwards , which limits the areas of shine that are so unpleasant! We use them a lot in our products for all these reasons!"
" Almond oil can be used to treat acne since it is antimicrobial and high in vitamin A."
In my case I used it because of anti-aging benefits. The one I used was 100% bio simply from supermarket, I can't remember the brand and it was 17 years ago 😊 however here are some :

Thank you very much! This has been very useful. :)
Black cumin seed oil is very moisturizing and clinical research suggests it is as effective as benzoyl peroxide in certain percentages https://www.researchgate.net/publication/236032875_Nigella_Sativa_Oil_Lotion_20_vs_Benzoyl_Peroxide_Lotion_5_in_the_Treatment_of_Mild_to_Moderate_Acne_Vulgaris
I use it every day and it has really helped keep my skin moisturized and clear. It has a very strong scent, but I've grown to love it.
Just please be careful: black cumin seed oil can be irritating (benzoyl peroxide too, of course), so it's not a great choice if the goal is to moisturize and support skin barrier.
The trouble is that pure or highly concentrated oils have a higher risk of contributing to clogged pores. Sunflower seed oil is probably an exception and can even help reduce clogged pores/ acne because of high linoleic acid content, but you'd need to look for a product that specifically is for skincare (sunflower seeds used for food/cooking oils have different fatty acid content).
Are you craving the "face oil" feel because your skin feels dehydrated? If yes, I'd look into a gentler routine to take a better care of your skin barrier, and then you might find that you don't need the oil sensation.
I noticed that highly concentrated oils always clogged my pores, so that is why I was wondering if there is anything that I could use.
No, not at all. My skin is normally pretty well hydrated, I just would like a face oil that I could put once or twice on my skin at night. I just really love the feeling that leaves on my skin. For some reason, the entire thing feels very pampering and therapeutic. Plus the glow that face oils leave is so pretty. It is not really a need, just more a want haha. :D
Also, thank you very much for your reply. I will try and see if I can find some sunflower oils specifically targeted for the face area.
Rosehip seed oil is a great, kinda dry oil that has retinoid properties to heal acne and post inflammatory pigmentation from acne. Fully absorbs into my skin and I lowkey have to reapply it.
Olive oil is my top trick for makeup removal at the height of my acne because my actives/prescriptions were really drying. Has a lot of Vitamin E as well.
Hope this helps!
