Reactive Skin

I have really sensitive skin, and despite having a fairly gentle routine, I still break out, which can be pretty frustrating after a while. Any tips on what I can add to prevent breakouts?

Hello Maddiem! We've suggested a new extra-gentle routine for you here: https://whatsinmyjar.com/posts/942/routine-makeover-extra-gentle-routine-for-sensitive-skin. It could be that the organic UV filters and a few irritants in your current cleansers and the moisturizer are aggravating your skin.

Thank you! I'll give this a shot and update after a few weeks. :)

It took me a while to get this to this, but changing to your suggested routine worked wonders for my skin! I still have the occasional break-out, but my skin is clearer now. I just need to spot-treat every once in a while.

Hello Maddiem,

I understand! I’m sorry you’re struggling. For breakouts, 3 things have helped me a lot. A chemical exfoliant with salicylic acid for example Drunk Elephant Framboos, a retinoid for example Mychelle Remarkable Retinal Serum, and Herbivore Lapis Facial Oil.

A routine could look like:

Morning:

Wash

Lapis Oil

Sunscreen

Evening

Wash

Exfoliate or retinal (rotate)

Lapis oil

Maybe someone can comment on whether these would be too harsh. Definitely the lapis oil is gentle and helps w breakouts.

Sorry “these” meaning retinoid and chemical exfoliant. You can start w one and use once a week and add one maybe?
