Really? What are the profit margins on a product?
L'Oreal Group posted 18.6% profit margin in 2020, luxury brands would typically have a profit margin higher than that. But cost of actual ingredients in a formulation is usually below 10%, packaging is under 5% as well, and the rest is marketing & distribution.

Ingredient suppliers increased their prices too... I've read predictions that we'll see "bottle inflation" as in many brands might keep their current prices per bottle but decrease the bottle volume. Not sure if it will solve the brands' issues though given that the cost of actual formulation is usually a very small fraction of the total product cost 🤷♀️.
