Alternatives for Differin?

Thank you so much, Maria for all the information!! This is so so helpful! ๐Ÿ™ I am committed to follow the routine suggested by you! So in the morning you suggest not to use any cleansers if I understand correctly. Perhaps just wash my face with water? And in the evening I should only use the oil cleanser and skip second water based cleansers all together. How can I remove the oil residue than or maybe this particular Klairs oil cleanser is fine to rinse off only with water? And lastly, Differin in my country is not so easy to access but Iโ€™ll definitely try. If I canโ€™t get that, what would be your other suggestion for retinoids? Thank you so much again for all your help!

Most people do not need a cleanser in the morning - so yes, splashing your face with cold or lukewarm water will be enough. For the evening, I'd recommend finding one cleansing product (ideally fragrance free) that works for you in one step - it doesn't matter much if it's oil or water based - whatever you prefer really. Less cleansing steps = less irritation. Usually, you can rinse-off oil-based cleanser with water & pat dry with a cloth - a bit of an oily residue is ok as long as makeup/ sunscreen is removed - it's better than having a "squeaky clean" feeling on the skin.

If Differin is too hard to get, retinol and/or HPR (other retinoids) can work in a similar way. A few options for products:

- https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/paulas-choice-clinical-0-3-retinol-2-bakuchiol-treatment (I'd say these first two options are best for sensitive skin, but they are pricey)

Happy if it is helpful, please come back with questions and updates on how the routine is working out for you!
