Retinol for my mom

Hii

My mom is 67 years old. She has been suffering from a lot of sun damage/hyperpigmentation/ uneven skin tone since 35 years. She doesn't want to see a dermatologist so she started using encapsulated retinol 1% since 1 month (from advanced clinicals brand) with absolutely no irritation. She started gradually and then daily. She hasn't seen any improvement yet even though the percentage of retinol is high. Any thoughts why could that be ?

Thanx πŸ’—

Retinol is a long time run, she's gonna see results in time. But if she wants fastest results I recomend retinal or retynaldehyde.

Agreed with previous poster! There are some really lovely retinal products coming out on the market too so the choice is better than ever. :)

Naturium and Beauty of joeson make affordable retinal products. I saw a big difference in texture/ firmness with adapalene, another form of vitamin A. Drugstores/Amazon sell it. There is newer published research showing anti aging effects so also worth a look. Here’s some info explaining retinal vs retinol: Retinal/Retinaldehyde: One of the newest varieties of retinoid ingredients, retinal or retinaldehyde has become the latest skin care MVP because of its ability to deliver the same anti-aging benefits as retinol but in a faster (up to 11 times) and more efficient way.

I should mention the adapalene also helped with my uneven skin tone.

The highest percentage of retinol you can get over the counter is actually. Adapalene gel. It's advertised as an acne treatment but works on wrinkles etc too! It's pretty strong so make sure to put a good cream on over it. Vitamin c serum and peptides well help too!
