La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer and The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc?

I have been using Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer for a while now and it has calmed down my skin a good amount. However, from time to time I get some acne that pops up usually around my cheek as that is the spot that oil tends to build of faster on. I saw that Niacinamide could help with that problem but I hadn't realize that Toleriane had niacinamide in it already. SO I was wondering if it would be more beneficial if I to use both at the same time (I was thinking about niacinamide only at night since that's when i'm only using lighter products along with the moisturizer)

This is the kind of thing that really depends on your own skin and no one (except possibly a dermatologist) can answer for sure. The 10% concentration of niacinamide in the Ordinary serum is at the higher end, and most people probably wouldn't see much extra benefit doubling up with another niacinamide product at the same time, conversely it could cause irritation (I'm quite sensitive to niacinamide and tend to get irritation already with 10% niacinamide alone, even though it's generally a soothing ingredient).

But the best and only way to actually find out what works for your skin is to try it out and see how your skin reacts.

Okay, that is good to know. I just ordered it and I will see if there is any irritations after a couple days of using it! I will most likely use it in the mornings first since I'm seeing that it works well with vitamin C serums.

That’s a moisturiser I’ve been thinking about trying so it’s good to know it’s calmed your skin!

I don’t know about that ordinary product or if doubling up would give you any more benefit. Just wanted to say I’ve been trying products with azelaic acid or salicylic acid to help with spots. I’m not an expert and I don’t know how sensitive you are or if these would work for your skin but it’s just an idea.

I’ve recently tried the Dermatica azelaic acid cream and quite like it. You would need to use spf with these products though.

Yes, it's much better compared to my other moisturizers which used to feel like another layer on my face and honestly lead me more prone to breakouts. This just feels like its been absorbed and makes my face feel soft but not dry. I'd say give it try!

I've been using the Paula's BHA exfoliant in the mornings after my cleanser and that has also helped out. So, I'll try the niacinamide out first then in the mornings but if that is too irritating then I will switch it to pm.

Also, thanks for the rec I'll definitely look into it!

Niaciamide is great but 10% is a very high concentration, and together with zinc can irritate the skin depend on how sensitive you are. With 5% you have the al the beneficts of niaciamide and your skin barrier is gona thank you ;) hope it helps
