Hey. I’m looking for all the best advice on skincare from real people, for real people. I have hereditary dark circles, which are the bane of my life and has been the source of my depression and anxiety my whole life! Overall, my skin is in pretty good condition for my age (44). A few wrinkles around the eyes and a bit of hyperpigmentation and dark spots, but I’m realistic. I don’t want to erase the fine lines, just slow them down. All advice greatly appreciated 😊❤️

Thank you for your reply. I currently use niacinamide and zinc for hyperpigmentation, retinol, hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, and vitamin C is my new favourite ingredient. Of course, I also use spf 50++++ since all the actives make skin sensitive to UVA and even more so now since my mum was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on Monday. Too close to home for my liking!
It sounds like you already have a great routine! I'm sure you'll find things to improve it on here. :)
Hi Stella! I think you'll get far with the skincare routine builder, to find out what actives to add to your current routine. There is also a lot of information on what works for certain issues you have with your skin. I would also say the most important thing for aging is daily sun protection. For evening out skintone / hyperpigmentation and fine lines, I found niacinamide does wonders! I use a 12% niacinamide serum every night and combine it with an hyaluronic acid serum for hydration and plumping. In the morning I use antioxidants: ferulic acid and vitamin C. Of course my skin will be different to yours! You might want to try retinol, my skin can't handle it well, but it works very well for others. Good luck finding your new routine!
