Tan on face and hands

i have really sensitive skin and have only been using products with low irritancy. I use sunscreen regularly but my face and hands have tanned and I am looking for products which can lighten my skin but so confused what to start with because I can’t use products with high irritation. I seem to be getting sunspots tooI’ve heard kojic acid , alpha Arbutin , licorice, vitamin C and Niacinamide can help with it but I don’t know which product can be effective for my sensitive skin.Hope someone can help me out . Thank you. Below are the products I use

The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser

Skin 1004 has a brightening ampule and Beauty of Joseon has a serum with Alpha Arbutin in their range - cause you already use some of their products your skin might be alright using them. But be aware that layering two or more (for example Niacinamide ) products adds to the active ingredient percentage and can cause irritation. My sensitive skin can’t handle any Vit C and everything else only in low dosage. You really just have to jump in and try what works. My main concern is also uneven skintone (I have every type of hyperpigmentation… some caused from sun damage some are hormonal) but I have not found an over the shelf product that really does the job. I don‘t leave the house without a big hat on a sunny day and try to avoid sun exposure when UV is high. I even thought about getting a UV face shield ;)

Good luck and let us know if you find a winner!

Thank you ! Yes I tried boj alpha Arbutin but wasn’t consistent so will buy it again and see if it helps out. I ll give skin1004 a try and see if it helps . I just hope my skin doesn’t react to Vitamin C because I tried skinlabs vitamin C and it irritated my skin. Same here . My skin is very sensitive and reacts to everything I use so I try to test patch it before buying it. Okay I didn’t know that layering two or more products can cause irritation if layered . That’s a big help. Thank you . Really appreciate it .

I will let you know ! You also keep us updated if you find any skin product that helps out

I have been using the Beauty of Joseon serum for 3 months daily and it didn’t brighten my spots but I didn’t get any new (summer sun related) ones either (only a few post inflammatory ones). So maybe it did something… :) and it takes a very long time to erase them!

I think a combination of various brightening actives would be better but irritation risk is higher.

Azelaic Acid is working for me too, I like the Revox B77 10% one. This is also supposed to help with brightening and my skin can tolerate it.

Retinol would be great too. But again my skin can only handle the milder alternative (Bakuchoil - BYBI Boster).

All the best :)

I also have sensitive skin and one especially stubborn hyperpigmentation spot. For individual spots, I’m using Faded serum which is supposed to be good. But I had to work myself up to nightly use because it is irritating, and I heard it will take six months for it to work—and that is if I stay out of the sun. I would only use it on specific spots. I bought the mini version. I also bought Inkey Lists Omega Water Cream with 5% Niacinamide that I will be using soon, and I think that would be good for the whole face, maybe at night. The Skin-1004 also has a serum with Niacinamide and Tranexamic acid that I thought about buying for the whole face—the same line as the sunscreen you have from them—might be good in the day. Korean is good for gentle products. Irritation is the worst thing for dark spots besides the sun so you have to be slow and careful when introducing new ingredients or products. Good luck!

Also I think this serum may be more effective than the one you are using from Beauty of Joseon since it has alpha Arbutin, which is another good fading ingredient.https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/beauty-of-joseon-glow-deep-rice-alpha-arbutin. It will take a long time for the spots to fade and the main thing is sun protection, including hats. I like this one YouTuber, Vanitta Rattan, who speaks a lot about hyperpigmentation.

Thank you for the recommendations . Yes I wanted to get Faded and tested it on my skin and there was a reaction. So many good products out there but my skin can’t tolerate it I ll try to check out the other products you mentioned. Yes Korean products are more gentle so will try looking for more products. Thank you for your help
