Hello from heyitsmebitches

This weather is drying out my skin like no other! It hasn't been this dry and flaky since high school. Even my lips are dry and cracked, nothing seems to be working, everything I try on my dry skin burns, (except for green tea serum by Innisfree, and Aqualane oil by The Ordinary) I also have combination skin so i have a bunch of blackheads on my nose, some just holes with no blackheads, how do I fix my nose guys? Im extremely self conscious about my nose, I use a lot of blurring primers on my nose and pore fillers (all at the same time) and then I use a cream stick concealer on my entire nose (CoverGirl Smoothers, the one that looks like a lipstick) and I let that set for about 10 minutes before lightly using a beauty blender to smooth it out. Regular concealer just doesn't stay on my nose anymore and it emphasizes my nose holes. I'm open to any all suggestions!!

Things I've tried: •Rinsing face with cold water after cleansing •Using an Ice Cube on my nose to close the pores after cleansing and toning.

My Son uses salicylic acid for nose and chin blackheads. It seems to work a treat.

Unfortunately there is no way to change your pore size. You can minimize your blackheads by exfoliating your face a couple of times a week. Also it's important to moisturize, even on the oily part of your face. Sometimes we produce more oil on our face to compensate for no moisture. Also make sure your water intake is good. What we put in our body greatly effects our skin. If your skin is burning then I would stop using everything and switch to something that fixes your skin barrier. Your barrier needs to be repaired before introducing anything else. Try Cera Vue or Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. I cannot stress enough do not use anything else until you get your barrier better. Once your barrier is better you can introduce hyaluronic acid if your face is still very dry. It holds 1000x times it's water weight in water, so very hydrating. Make sure to apply on a damp face, never dry. It is also possible you are having a reaction to a makeup. If there's anything new you've tried and then noticed burning try going without and see if it helps. Or you may have a makeup that is old. Just some suggestions

Maybe try incooperating an oil cleanser, and a second gentle Cleanser (Cerave is great) as a double cleanse, to help unclog your Pores and prevent Blackheads.

For your dry Skin i would simplify my Routine if i were you, it sounds as if your Mouisture Barrier is damaged and Cicaplast Baume by La Roche Posay works as a great Mouisturiser for repairing the Barrier.

In the winter I up my glycerin use: I used to steal my son's 20% glycerol/glycerin cream based on rapeseed oil. That may not be the be choice for congestion prone skin but it worked for me for moisturising. I think it's also water-free, so less likely to sting/burn.

Now, I use 15% glycerine serum first (from the Transparent Lab) before any cream and even my sunscreen is glycerin-packed (something like 4-5%). I used to mixed my basic moisturiser with oil (it may be squalane but I had B oil from the Ordinary) and it worked well. Shea butter ie also nice for the winter but more comedogenic than squalane. And I also have Cicaplast cream from La Roche Posay that I use for my cheeks (for redness when I go from cold to indoors).

As people wrote already check you cleansing routine. NIOD cleanser worked fine during harsh winter for me even though it may not be the nicest product to use. In general I would address dryness before dealing with blackheads.
