Hi, funny you mention azelaic acid as I just purchased some today :), it's from a local store and it's 5% azelaic acid. I also purchased some Me+ 2.5% Tranexamic Acid Booster 30ml.
Question do I apply these with retinol or without ?
Would I use my serums first then after azelaic acid then moisturiser and finally SPF in the morning? Or would I incorporate them at night?
Great!
Tranexamic serums are usually water-based, so you can apply them right after you wash your face (preferably apply slightly wet skin, for optimal absorption). Tranexamic acid is usually well tolerated, you could probably get away with applying the tranexamic serum twice a day without irritation. Only 3 drops are needed! pour the drops on the back of your hand and massage them onto the semi-wet skin. After the tranexamic serum and the water get almost completely absorbed into the skin, you may continue with the retinoid. Since you are a male, you could probably tolerate the tranexamic serum + azelaic acid twice a day without too much trouble (at a concentration of 2.5%)- and that is my recommendation.
Azelaic acid usually comes as a suspension. Therefore it should be the last layer you put on your face before sunscreen.
You got a very good start there!
In order to take your routine to the next level, and have more informed recommendations, you need to decide your skin goals. Since you have incorporated Vit C derivative in your routine, I'm assuming hyperpigmentation might be a concern.
If that is so, I would suggest incorporating Ordinary azelaic acid before the sunscreen, even twice a day if your skin can tolerate it. Please note that the caffeine serum in the evening might have an adverse effect on your sleep quality, due to systemic absorption.
