Could you recommend a cleanser suitable for facial eczema? Almost every flare up tends to be triggered by wearing make up, and I don’t think it’s the make up causing the reaction, but actually the cleansers stripping my skin during removal.
Are you double cleansing? What is your method for removing your makeup prior to washing your face? I use cliniques take the day off cleansing balm, followed by stratias velvet cleansing milk and this works very well for me and doesn't seem to strip my skin
At the minute I am using a garnier soothing rose cleanser. It is the only milk cleanser that I can find that doesn’t cause redness. I recently tried a Eucerin milk cleanser and it made my face very red. I had been double cleansing with an Alumier sensicalm cleanser or Cerave hydrating cleanser but my skin no longer tolerates these; they cause tightness and irritation. At the minute I don’t wash my face with water to cleanse and in the shower I cover my face with diprobase ointment to stop the steam drying out my skin.
Do you mean this Eucerin cleanser - https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/eucerin-dermatoclean-hyaluron-cleansing-milk? Maybe the ingredient decyl glucoside is to blame. La Roche Posay Toleraine Dermo Cleanser (https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/la-roche-posay-la-roche-posay-toleriane-dermo-cleanser-sensitive-skin) would be my safest bet, but the strategy of not washing your face until the skin barrier heals is a good one as well. Hope your skin gets better soon!
I personally use La Roche Posay Toleraine Dermo Cleanser (https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/la-roche-posay-la-roche-posay-toleriane-dermo-cleanser-sensitive-skin). It is the most gentle cleanser I've found by far. The secret with it is to use quite a lot of product - then it gets the job done in one application.
Other good options: https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/is-clinical-cream-cleanser, https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/laura-mercier-purifying-cleansing-oil. For atopic skin, it's always best to use more product and less rubbing as you cleanse.
