Is this retinol serum any good?

Just want some advice and thoughts on this product by Clear Skin Days?

little bit about our retinol: We’ve included a 5% Retinol complex, which contains 0.05% pure retinol which is effective and tolerable for most skin types. We selected our retinol because of its enhanced stability profile, which usually results in a more stable and therefore efficacious product in the long run.

We have used a Cyclosystem Complex in which the retinol is micro-encapsulated in cyclodextrins, protecting it to provide potentiation of its efficiency and controlling its release, prolonging its action time.

0.05% retinoid is a low concentration but it can have an effect. It's a good option if your skin is sensitive and you are just starting with retinoid. You could start with this product, and if things go well, move on to a higher percentage. The good thing about this product is that it also includes 5% of niacinamide (it is an effective concentration and you don't really need more).

Awesome, you're a superstar Maria! My skin is quite tough in the sense I don't really suffer for reactions much apart from shea butter. (Yet to try a retinoid).

Do you recommend any other retinol serums that are cruelty free? What would you say is the minimum % level I should start with? I just feel like 0.05% is low not even 0.1% haha.

Aww 😊 thank you, glad if helpful.

This 1% product could be a good option (No7 is cruelty free according to Cruelty Free Kitty): https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/no7-pure-retinol-1-night-concentrate.

Other options:

- https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/cosrx-the-retinol-0-5-oil (0.5%)

- https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/the-inkey-list-ca-retinol-serum (about 0.3% retinol + about 0.05% of HPR - https://whatsinmyjar.com/skincare-ingredients/hydroxypinacolone-retinoate)
