My routine has suggested sun protection but I’m outside in the sun so minimally mon - Fri. Maybe 815-845 on my bus/walk to the office, and same the other way home 545-615. Lunch al desko. Is it really necessary?? I’m not outside enough surely!

You get quite a bit of UV light damage during your morning trip, even if it's not sunny outside. The decision on whether you need sunscreen to protect from it is up to you of course: if the goal is to prevent early signs of aging and pigmentation issues, then the answer is yes, for sure. If it's more about skin cancer protection, if you don't have the history in your family, your risk would be lower.
UV damage inside a building very much depends on where you sit / spend most of the time and if the windows in your building have the UV protection (plus whether your building is in the shade or exposed to direct sunlight most of the time). If you get visible light from outside a lot on your face while inside, you'd get a lot less photo damage to your skin with a sunscreen with a good protection against UVA.
