Longevity of an easy routine

I struggle with consistency in my routine. I decide I'll start retinol slowly, then laziness don't do it... I wear sunscreen most days, and on the days I do I always double cleanse, but if I don't put sunscreen or makeup on I don't bother. My skin is pretty much fine though, apart from a pimple a month where I touch my face a lot! Wondering if vitamin c, or another active ingredient would suit me.

I actually think laziness is not bad in skincare, as long as you wear a daily sunscreen:) There is no real need to double cleanse, you can remove the residue, non-water-proof makeup and pollution in one step with a generous amount of a cleanser. One step cleanse is better for the skin barrier.

I'd recommend to focus on consistency with sunscreen, and then if you were to use 1 active only, stick with a retinoid. Try to use it every other day, but don't worry if you skip a day. At some point you might like the results and it will motivate you to apply it consistently.

You could add a vitamin C serum (for example, https://whatsinmyjar.com/product/cerave-skin-renewing-vitamin-c-serum) in the AM instead of your Mecca Max serum (it would bring better results), but even sticking with sunscreen + a retinoid is already a very solid routine.
